A few weeks ago Chris, and I went back to the lava caves. This time Chris's friends Casey and Mike came along. They had heard about Glass Mt. from a professor and wanted to check it out. We got everything ready for caving but made this our first stop. We ended up doing so much exploring here we ran out of sunlight. We found the most obsidian near the entrance but we still took the very hard way up a ridge to get a better view. There were a few trails through the area, which we found on the way out, but we spent most of our time climbing over loose rock, mostly pumice. It was a fun adventure and a great workout!
Hiking with gloves, that has got to be a warning for beginning hikers. It looks beautiful, though.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't so much hiking as it was climbing/bouldering. Most of the rock was pumice and things shifted with every step you took. I wouldn't take kids off the trail but it definitely was fun for our group.
